Issue of Guidelines!
After an extensive process of research and consultation we are pleased to announce the issue of Guidelines for Applying the Precautionary Principle to Biodiversity Conservation and Natural Resource Management. These represent the first set of guidance for applying the principle in this area. It is hoped that they will be widely adopted and used in a broad range of biodiversity conservation and NRM contexts. Guidelines are available in English, Spanish and French

International Workshop, White Oak Conservation Center, Florida
This workshop brought together political scientists, environmental lawyers, and specialists in all areas (from invasive species to sustainable agriculture) to review the project’s best practice guidance (Guidelines for Applying the Precautionary Principle to Biodiversity Conservation and Natural Resource Management). A draft version of this document, which had already been revised after the e-conference in June, was carefully scrutinized and a new version took shape which reflected the participants’ combined breadth of experience.
The text of the guidelines is currently being finalized by a small drafting group and will be available later this year.
