This Precautionary Principle Project demonstrates that the interaction between different stakeholders involved in environmental issues is fundamental to get a useful and fertile tool like this. In having the opportunity of participating in the Quito’s Workshop we remember the importance of the listening and debate with each other, people from different origins and interests. In this sense, the Guidance shows plenty of ways to work on, and it gives us a solid instrument to elaborate strategies within our fields of work to improve the efficiency of the application of this principle. From FARN (Environment and Natural Resources Foundation), María Eugenia Di Paola and I have studied the implementation of the pp in judicial and administrative decisions in Argentina: we can affirm that it is fundamental to work on the legal and institutional frameworks that makes possible the application of the pp (2nd.point of the Guidance) so the authorities and judges are correctly involved with this issue and share a coherent comprehension of the concept. Moreover, and taking into account that environmental issues are not closed to one aspect, it is necessary to consider the interaction between the pp and other principles (13th. point of the guidance) in order to give adequate protection to biodiversity without forgetting other economical and social aspects. We all should work for this Guidance to be considered.
