I would like to post the complete paper, but it is 1200 words, and is already very compact. To summarize: Killing organisms, or destroying seeds, risks destroying unique genetic diversity. The probability may be low, but the possibility is always there, and there is no way to determine that in advance. Since destruction of biodiversity is an obvious harm, and therefore not sustainable, there is no such thing as a sustainable lifestyle. The best that we can do is to try to minimize harm. For example, we may want to stop killing wild organisms, and eat only those we farm ourselves. This wouldn't solve the problem, but it may minimize it. Note that genetic diversity, although a large resource, is FINITE, and therefore continued losses lead to the ultimate loss of a very significant proportion of existing wildlife.
